FUN FACT: After her refit, the Enterprise became the first of her class.

I've always loved the Stargazer. It's always stood out among the sleek looking starships the Federation has. Even when set next to the original Enterprise it looks like an antique. I love old looking/junker ships, it's something in my genes, I like clunker cars and trucks. This is also why I like the Millennium Falcon and the ship from Stargate Universe.

Love 'em all, but I admit a particular fondness for the Miranda-class.

Uuuhm not to be a party pooper dude but the ST III era was the 2280's. The 2380's was late TNG movie and DS9'Voyager late season territory. That said the renders are truly awesome dude!! :)

I think it's interesting that all of these classes are still operating in the TNG era except the Constitution-class.

I think I have an explanation for that... the Constellation class and Miranda class have slightly larger volumes than the Constitution class while presumably being easier to construct, having simpler and more compact shapes. Once the Constitution class was no longer the top-of-the-line ship it would have been naturally retired in favour of the faster/more powerful Excelsior or the cheaper/bigger-capacity Miranda and Constellation.

True indeed. If I was really strict, I should have really included the miranda class variants like the Soyuz class and perhaps the Sydney class transports...but alas...time and space were against me.
